The link between vaccinations and autism is one of the most hotly contested issues in the medical world today. Although the rate of child vaccination remains very high, there are currently three popular hypotheses that link autism to vaccinations:
There have been a wealth of studies carried out to determine if there is any link between autism and vaccinations, and scientists are learning more and more about the causes, and prevention of autism and autism-related afflictions.
Most recently, a study was carried out with roughly 95 000 children, including 15 000 unvaccinated children and 2 000 children already considered to be at high-risk for autism. This was the largest study of its kind to be carried out to date.
The study found that although they could not determine a link between vaccines or thimerosal and autism, parents should still obtain all of the sufficient information when deciding on whether or not to vaccinate their children, as every case can be seen as unique.
